I am a native English speaker working professionally with German. I do some work as a freelance literary translator working from German into my native language. My main specialities revolve around theology, history and the tech industry. I have a degree from the University of St Andrews in German and Theological Studies (MA Hons), which gives me a high theoretical background in these areas.

Academic translation

For academic translation I am especially interested in the fields of systematic theology, church history and practical theology. As someone who is also research active in these areas, I have a in-depth knowledge of the necessary terminology, and can easily and quickly orientate myself in a given work. I will also consider works in biblical studies, history and cultural identity.

I can also read and understand medieval German (Mittelhochdeutsch) and have an interest in translating spiritual and mystical texts written in medieval German into English.

My rates for academic translation tend to be in the region of 1,60 – 1,90 euro per normalised line (55 characters including spaces), exclusive of Austrian VAT.

Please get in touch if you would like to discuss a popular level translation project with me.

Popular level translation

I am also experienced at providing popular level translation of magazine articles, small book projects, sermons, web pages and press releases. Again, my specialist areas revolve around theology, history, the technology industry and culture. Translation at a popular level includes not just bringing the content across into a new language, but making sure that the tone and personality of the content is also transferred.

My rates for academic translation tend to be in the region of 1,30 – 1,70 euro per normalised line (55 characters including spaces), exclusive of Austrian VAT.
